Archaeological Excavations and Public Open Day at Dinas Dinlle Iron Age hillfort

From 7–9, 12–16 and 19 & 20 August, Gwynedd Archaeological Trust are running a series of excavation days at Dinas Dinlle hillfort supported by the Royal Commission’s partnership CHERISH project. This dramatic and eroding coastal hillfort is the focus of new archaeological and palynological research and survey work undertaken by the 2017-2021 EU-funded CHERISH Ireland-Wales project. On Saturday 17 August there is a CHERISH Open Day at the site offering the public the opportunity to learn more about the history, legends and landscape of this special place, and hear about the latest research investigating the impact of climate change on this iconic National Trust monument. Both events are free, but booking is essential if you wish to take part in the excavation, as places are strictly limited.
