
Spheres of Influence
3 February, Spheres of Influence, day-conference, 8.30 am ─ 5pm. A day-conference jointly organised by the Anglesey Antiquarian Society, Gwynedd Archaeological Trust and Bangor University Institute for the Study of Welsh Estates, to explore the impacts of estates on the history, culture and landscapes of Anglesey, from the medieval period to the present day. Hosted in the grounds of Plas Cadnant, the day will consist of a series of short presentations on the history and influence of estates including Bodorgan, Baron Hill, Lligwy and Penmynydd, with sessions on medieval gentry culture, local office-holding, country house architecture, praise poetry, musical patronage and the life and contribution of a female landowner in the early-20th century. Presentations will include a paper by Richard Suggett on Anglesey’s Plastai.
