16 January 2020, The Royal Commission Christmas Lecture, A Story of Sand, Sea and Storms: Uncovering the Secrets of Dinas Dinlle Hillfort in Gwynedd, 6pm, hosted by the School of History, Philosophy and Social Sciences, Bangor University, at Cemlyn Jones Room (PL5), Pontio, Deiniol Road, Bangor, LL57 2TQ. In response to popular demand, there is now an opportunity to attend the Royal Commission’s Christmas Lecture in Bangor, north Wales. This talk will be given by Louise Barker and Daniel Hunt (CHERISH, RCAHMW) with Sarah Davies and Patrick Robson (CHERISH, Aberystwyth University: Department of Geography and Earth Sciences). As part of the CHERISH–Climate Change and Coastal Heritage project–exciting new investigations are uncovering the secrets of Dinas Dinlle hillfort before it is lost to the sea. The talk will reveal highlights from their recent work, including the 2019 excavations which uncovered one of the largest and best-preserved roundhouses in North Wales. Free admission by ticket.
