The Royal Commission Christmas Lecture – A Story of Sand, Sea and Storms: Uncovering the Secrets of Dinas Dinlle Hillfort in Gwynedd

5 December, The Royal Commission Christmas Lecture, Drwm, National Library of Wales, 5pm. This year’s talk is on A Story of Sand, Sea and Storms: Uncovering the Secrets of Dinas Dinlle Hillfort in Gwynedd and will be given by Louise Barker and Daniel Hunt (CHERISH, RCAHMW) with Sarah Davies and Patrick Robson (CHERISH, Aberystwyth University, Department of Geography and Earth Sciences). As part of the CHERISH–Climate Change and Coastal Heritage project–exciting new investigations are uncovering the secrets of Dinas Dinlle hillfort before it is lost to the sea.  The talk will reveal highlights from their recent work, including the 2019 excavations which uncovered one of the largest and best-preserved roundhouses in North Wales. Once again, the Royal Commission’s Christmas Lecture will be held in conjunction with the National Library’s late-night Christmas shopping event: Noswaith Siopa Hwyr, 5pm ─ 8pm, with entertainment, seasonal refreshments, and stalls selling a selection of quality goods.

Please note that this lecture will also be given at 6pm on 16 January 2020 in Bangor.
