Going for Gold….

As part of our Open Data session, Digital Past will be welcoming Dr Dinusha Mendis, Professor of Intellectual Property law and Co-Director of the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy and Management at Bournemouth University & Nikolaos Maniatis, Managing Director of Museotechniki Ltd.

Dinusha and Nikolaos will be talking about the impact that 3D technologies, most specifically 3D Scanning and 3D printing, are having on intellectual property law and the issues that are raised in relation to copyright, design and licencing issues.

Using the case study of the AHRC funded project ‘Going for Gold’, which has studied the impact of mass customisation and 3D replication of ancient and modern jewellery, they will set out Practice Guidelines outlining the state-of-the-art and common practices in relation to the copyright, licensing and contractual issues of 3D digital archives.
