On Wednesday, 24 August at 1pm, Dr James January-McCann will present the 2022 Hallstatt Lecture on the place names of the Dyfi Valley. Dr January-McCann is a Welsh & Celtic Studies Scholar, and the Place Names Officer for the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales. This talk will delve into the etymology of the Dyfi valley and is informed by The List of Historic Place Names of Wales project, Dr January-McCann’s ground-breaking and innovative resource containing hundreds of thousands of place names collected from historical maps and other resources.
