How a trip to ‘Explore your Archive’ led to being a volunteer at the RCAHMW

Trying to find out the history of the house we moved to in Corris Uchaf via a course on house history, led me to an ‘Explore your Archive’ event held by the Royal Commission, at their then home at Plas Crug. One of the hands-on demonstrations was how to use Coflein. Whilst this didn’t throw any light on the history of our house, it did lead me to pick up a leaflet on ‘Becoming a Volunteer’, which was duly filled in. I am now volunteering every Friday, working in the Commission’s library cataloguing books. Many years ago my school library catalogue was card based, but now cataloguing is done through a dedicated Library cataloguing programme. Although one should not really get side tracked by the titles and start reading them, my favourite catalogued book would have to be Welsh Slate by David Gwyn.
