
Job Vacancy – Buildings Investigator
Exciting new post within Survey and Investigation
The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales was established in 1908 and is the investigation body and national archive for the historic environment of Wales. We have a lead role in ensuring that Wales’s archaeological, built, and maritime heritage is authoritatively recorded. Based in Aberystwyth, our Survey & Investigation team comprises of specialist investigators covering archaeology, industrial archaeology, historic buildings and architecture, maritime archaeology and aerial survey and we are looking to strengthen the team by filling a new permanent full-time post.
Buildings Investigator
Working with our Senior Investigator for historic buildings, the post holder will carry out survey, research, and interpretation on a diverse range of building types across Wales. Work will include both buildings at risk survey and supporting the Commission’s thematic research projects. Current research projects are focused on places of worship and 20th Century built heritage.
- Salary £25,860 to £29,430 per annum (plus benefits)
- 37 hours per week (flexible working arrangements will be considered)
